GETTING LEGALISTIC WITH POLITICS?

Today I was talking with a friend who has her child in public school, who wishes more Christians would join her, and who feels the pressure that I have sensed and heard about, that a good Christian homeschools their child or puts them in a Christian school, but does horrible harm if you send them to public school. But this strong believing Mom's child is getting a great education in the public school and is having daily opportunities to learn about Christ and culture. This Mom is having amazing conversations with her 6 year old about Christ and culture. This conversation reminded me about how much I have felt the sense from other believers that a good Christian always votes for the pro-life candidate. But I believe that neither the decision of where to send your child to school, nor the decision for who to vote for is this easy. They are messy and complicated and we need to work through them with prayer. I really believe that when we try to make these things that are not really so simple, cut and dry, we are just acting like we do with legalism. Its the same wanting to make it easy to do the "right" thing so that we can pat ourselves on the back for being good.

Hey, we kindof talked about this one when you were here, but I think it's so true that it's way more complicated than we like to think...it's so easy to be legalistic, and so hard (in our own strength) to walk by faith and follow God's leading about big decisions like these!
